The fruit is grown organically without chemical pesticides or sprays, then hand-picked when ripe for eating, washed and de-stoned, and naturally sun dried for a week or more. Free from sulphur compounds (non organic dried fruit is often treated with sulphur dioxide gas or sulphites to extend shelf life, as these compounds act as preservatives so that the fruit retains its colour. These sulphites sometimes cause adverse reactions and these can be particularly acute in people who suffer from asthma).
